No Type

No Type has been founded in 1998 to become a quality outlet of pure unadultered freedom for a flurry of artists & musicians too shady for the music industry. No genre of electronic & experimental music is safe from No Type's irreverent grip: from boundary-defying IDM to no wave maximinimalism, we still think you haven't heard it all quite yet.

The Hamburglers are an anonymous collective who assembed tracks out of samples from a well known fast food restaurant chain's motivational campaign from the 70s. The result: a full LP release of banging, outrageous plunderphonica. * For full artwork and information please visit the official album page on notype.com .

This new work by Jos Smolders is part of his "beeld-kleur" (image-color) series, specifically aimed at "pictorial music" or repesentative music, as opposed to his usually non-figurative compositions. Hemel is dutch for "sky" but also for "heaven." Says Jos: "I sometimes think of Kevin's music as heavenly. Also, his earlier radio stuff reminded me of the aether, up up up in the sky..." * For full artwork and information please visit the official...

James Schidlowsky collected all the sounds and noises of this sonic journey in the Montreal subway system. Since Providence is the name given previously to the monitoring and security hub of the undergound transportation system, this sound ecology project can be interpreted as an reflexion on its structure, or even a quest for its true meaning - a search for its symbolic 'heart'. The fundamental essence of this quest is explained in great details here . * For full artwork and information please...

A world of contrast is what awaits those who will heed the sound of Brussels based duo Tangtype, the happy meeting of Julie Cambier's fragile yet expressive voice with Jean-François Brohee’s savant electronic tweakings. On the menu: all manners of weaving, colliding, mingling and shredding. A debut mini-album that's at once fragmented and warm, and most of all full of charm. And another addition to this decreasingly marginal genre which we’ll call "acousmatic pop". * For full...

Produced during the year 2000, Morose Beach is a kind of “follow-up” to Auld Cove (rereleased on No Type earlier this year). This time, it’s a previously unreleased album that was created entirely using Audiomulch software. In this sense, this album also serves as a bridge with Heap, the last recording David Turgeon released under the name Period Three before launching the Camp project. None of this tells us much about the hazy, melancholic (& sometimes a tad noisy) atmosphere found...

Oeuf Korreckt's fourth No Type release presents four different variations on the "Shibuya" theme: more than a remix EP, these tracks are really meant to be listened to back to back as a continuous piece. Also included is Osaka Commtech Five, of which a different version appears on his later No Type CD, Podweek [imnt0205], not to mention an unbelievable "orchestral" version of Shibuya!

Seven years ago, Asyncdrone (David Turgeon et Kaia Wong, here joined by Napalm Jazz saxophonist Philémon) went in studio to record the follow-up to insurpassable lo-fi slop fest We Who Are Distant. The human richness of his art, his serious and pragmatical approach to theory, his honest and tactful union of philosophy and music, the fierce life animating his compositions are all essential elements of his inspiring work. The first Twombley Spiders album, And The Five Racoon Army , revealed a brighter, more poetic side of Eryk Salvaggio's increasingly endearing musical endeavours. At any rate, it ended up being a sleeper hit, with 7000 downloads in less than a year. With this follow-up, well, let's just say there's everything we like about this project: lush ambiences with a subtle underside of grit, dreamy melodies that veer far away from too-sweet... Run-off-the-mill it clearly is not. But inspired? Hell yes....

By 2004, I had already produced several mini-albums under the name Camp, most of which were released not long after, on the No Type, Panospria, BricoLodge, On Sunday Mornings and Falsch labels. Point d'orgue is the music of a future imagined by our grandparents. Following a brief improv session with Awdium, Galerie Stratique carefully edited and crafted this final session. Point d'orgue, with its akwardness, its explosion of contradictory sentiments, its limited means, its false virtuosity, slowed down funk, abusive repetitions and lo-fi sounds, is mostly a playful affair. But repeated listenings reveal not only some nuances and subtleties, but the possibility of a serious dependency.

Includes a hilarious reinterpretation of the "famous" Hampster Dance song as well as a rare Kalx remix. * For full artwork and information please visit the official album page on notype.com .
